The AI Agent & ML Engineer will play a crucial role in designing, building, and optimizing intelligent agents driven by advanced machine learning models, facilitating process automation and decision support throughout Bausch + Lomb. This hybrid role combines hands-on engineering with a strategic vision, ensuring our AI capabilities yield measurable impact through robust agent orchestration, scalable model deployment, and seamless integration with enterprise workflows. A significant aspect of this role is comprehending complex business processes and translating them into agentic frameworks for automation and optimization. Key Responsibilities Design and develop multi-agent systems aimed at process automation and intelligent decision-making.
Implement reasoning, planning, and tool-use capabilities utilizing frameworks such as LangChain, AutoGPT, or similar.
Integrate AI agents with APIs and enterprise systems to enhance operational efficiency.
Analyze, map, and document business processes; convert process requirements into agentic frameworks and automation solutions.
Collaborate with business stakeholders to pinpoint opportunities for agent-driven process improvements.
Develop, fine-tune, and deploy large language models (LLMs) and domain-specific ML models.
Create and maintain data pipelines, embeddings, and vector databases to support agent intelligence.
Optimize models for scalability, latency, and accuracy in production environments.
Promote Responsible AI practices, including monitoring, guardrails, and adherence to governance standards.
Lead Agile AI Operations involving backlog management, sprint planning, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Engineering, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering, agent development, process engineering, or related roles.
Proven track record in building and deploying production-grade AI agents and ML models.
Deep expertise in at least three of the following areas: Agent orchestration, ML model development, Data engineering, API integration, Process engineering, Responsible AI.
Strong programming skills in Python; proficient in ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow) and agent orchestration tools.
Experience in business process analysis, mapping, and workflow automation.
Familiarity with prompt engineering and vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate).
Ability to thrive in a matrix environment, developing strong relationships across functional groups (e.g., IT, business, UX) to achieve mutual objectives.
Demonstrated expertise in Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, SAFe), encompassing management of AI backlogs, sprints, and team metrics.
Excellent leadership, communication, and presentation skills, capable of engaging and influencing both internal and external stakeholders, coupled with sound business judgment and financial acumen.
Location: This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, allowing for up to two days of remote work per week and three days in our Bridgewater, NJ corporate office. For U.S. locations requiring compensation disclosure, the starting pay for this role ranges from $165,000 to $190,000. This estimated salary range reflects the anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on various factors. U.S.-based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-term incentives, and also for medical, dental, vision insurance, disability and life insurance, a 401(k) plan with company match, tuition reimbursement (for select degrees), company holidays, and well-being benefits. U.S.-based employees also qualify for sick time, floating holidays, and paid vacation.
