Software Engineering Intern
Smith knows electronic components inside and out. We use that knowledge to offer procurement and supply chain services to electronics manufacturers. As the world's #1 independent distributor of electronic components, we are looking for quick, independent, motivated, and talented people to join our expert international team in helping customers save money and keep their production going. Internships are Monday through Friday for 40 hours a week. The intern will work on software development projects for multiple in-house applications. They must have prior knowledge of various programming languages. Interns need to be able to work both independently and alongside a team. As a Software Engineering Intern, you will participate in the development of web-based software applications, focusing on delivering high-quality, usable, and scalable solutions that align with product designs and business requirements. Your contributions will include producing highly reusable, maintainable, and extensible code consistent with software engineering best practices. Working as part of the software engineering team, you will help create technical solutions and implement them in software code. Additionally, you will develop applications using a cloud-based infrastructure, leveraging Amazon Web Services (AWS) and proprietary cloud server farms. Qualifications: Enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in computer science, computer engineering, or software engineering Experience in any of the following areas: Front end frameworks such as Angular V10+ or similar technologies Compiler or scripting languages, with a preference for Java, to establish a strong foundation in object-oriented design Relational databases, including Oracle or MySQL RESTful API design and implementation experience Familiarity with DevOps and build tools such as Grunt, Maven, Gradle, test frameworks, Git, and CI/CD pipelines Server-side JavaScript frameworks like Node.js Knowledge of NoSQL databases such as MongoDB and DocumentDB is advantageous Exposure to hybrid mobile app development frameworks such as Ionic Dates: Monday, June 1st to Friday, August 7th (10 weeks) Location: Fully in Office at 5306 Hollister Street, Houston TX 77040 Students with F-1 visas should consult with their designated school official (DSO) before applying.
