We are seeking innovative problem-solvers who are excited to tackle the challenges at the intersection of cryptocurrency, finance, and distributed systems. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop scalable ledgering systems capable of processing millions of transactions using modern technology and best practices. Build, test, and release high-quality product features with an emphasis on integrity, scalability, maintenance, and stability. Guide strategic technical direction for complex projects, whether independently or as part of a team. Identify, anticipate, and resolve technical challenges effectively. Collaborate with internal stakeholders from finance and product teams to deliver impactful high-visibility features and projects. Work with engineers, data analysts, product managers, and senior leadership to translate our product and technical vision into a strategic roadmap each quarter. Mentor and guide junior engineers, influencing technical design and code quality. Drive system enhancements by integrating AI into operational practices. What We Look For: 5+ years of software development experience, with expertise in creating performant, large-scale distributed systems. Strong programming skills, especially in Go, along with a solid understanding of relational databases and transactions. Adept at problem-solving, with the ability to debug and anticipate issues. Experience leading teams to deliver reliable and robust solutions. Familiarity with building highly concurrent systems and an intuitive understanding of REST API design. Demonstrated experience on significant projects that have a lasting impact on a system or team. A proactive mindset in identifying customer problems. Strong ability to align both technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively. Strong technical acumen, with sound judgment on task prioritization. Proven capability in solving complex engineering challenges aligned with team goals. Strong mentoring skills to guide junior developers and lead technical initiatives and system improvements. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with distributed systems and databases. Background in the financial services sector. Experience during a rapid growth phase at a company (e.g., from startup to mid-size). Familiarity with growth experiments or A/B testing frameworks. Experience with blockchain technology (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum). Proficient in Golang, Python, Docker, SQL, or Postgres. Experience building financial, high-reliability, or security systems. Familiarity with crypto activities like engaging with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, and interacting with dApps or blockchain services. The target annual base salary for this position ranges from $186,065 to $218,900 USD, depending on location. Full-time offers from Coinbase also include bonus eligibility, equity options, and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
