Our Field Support team plays a crucial role in delivering support to those who rely on advanced robotics technology. As a Robotics Hardware Support Engineer, you will be essential in bridging the gap between on-site technicians and our engineering teams. Your efforts will be pivotal in ensuring the optimal performance of robotics systems. Your responsibilities will include launching new systems, devising preventative maintenance procedures, ensuring spare parts availability, monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and leading initiatives for continuous improvement throughout Amazon's fulfillment network. You will also craft standard operating procedures, establish performance metrics, and create feedback mechanisms that are vital for scaling our operations. This role demands independent judgment, adaptability in a fast-paced environment, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Key Responsibilities: Provide hands-on support for new implementations, upgrades, hardware audits, and troubleshooting of robotics systems. Collaborate with site-level Reliability and Maintenance Engineering teams to enhance robotics system performance. Identify, analyze, and resolve mechanical and system issues across our product suite. Design and create electro-mechanical tools and diagnostic solutions to reduce downtime. Develop monitoring tools to ensure the safety, reliability, and performance of our robotics systems. Create escalation processes, standard operating procedures, and preventative maintenance protocols. Design and conduct training sessions and content for onsite teams. Implement spare parts management systems and processes. Generate performance reports and provide customer feedback to development teams. Be prepared for up to 75% travel. A Day in the Life: Your day might start with analyzing regional system performance reports, perhaps identifying issues at facilities in New Jersey or spare parts shortages in New York. You will utilize these insights to propose actions to mitigate risks for executive reviews. You could assist technicians through video troubleshooting or conducting audits for new deployments while gathering vital customer feedback. Your afternoons may involve designing new tools, optimizing operational processes, and strategizing with regional managers. About the Team: The RTS Field Hardware Support Engineers are dedicated to ensuring that our Reliability and Maintenance Engineers are fully equipped to maintain Amazon Robotics technologies independently. We identify areas for improvement, communicate risks, and suggest effective strategies. Our close alignment with field operators allows us to meet engineering requirements through insights derived from real-world applications. Basic Qualifications: 4+ years of software development or 2+ years of technical support experience. Experience in troubleshooting and debugging technical systems. Familiarity with agile/scrum workflows or software development experience. Strong documentation skills for troubleshooting findings. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree or equivalent in mechanical or electrical engineering, materials science, physics, or a related field. Experience in data science, business analytics, or similar environments dealing with big data. Proven skills in PLC-based controls design, development, implementation, and support.
