Software QA Engineer
AOI is seeking a Software QA Engineer with 10+ years of experience testing embedded firmware and software applications in the cable industry. As a Senior Staff QA Engineer, you will help lead the quality strategy for our next-generation smart amplifiers. With over a decade of experience, you will act as a "gatekeeper of quality," ensuring our devices deliver a seamless digital experience for our customers. Beyond traditional testing, you will participate in the definition and implementation of a nascent automation initiative, building scalable frameworks from the ground up and mentoring a growing team to adopt automated testing as a core discipline. Primary Responsibilities Define quality parameters and design test procedures specifically for connected smart home products. Act as a coach for the engineering team, providing guidance on testing techniques, establishing KPIs, and promoting best practices for testability. Drive quality initiatives across the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), from initial requirement reviews to final production release. Partner with DevOps to embed automated testing into continuous integration pipelines, reducing regression cycles and manual effort. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. 10+ years in Software Quality Assurance or similar customer quality focused roles. Expertise in C/C++ or Python for firmware and middleware validation. Deep knowledge of cable network and embedded device architectures. Proficiency in modern QA tools like JIRA, Zephyr, Labview. Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment and drive strategic quality improvements. Preferred Skills Deep understanding of Project Management principles related to customer delivery of software projects planning, estimating, reporting. Direct experience with DOCSIS standards or cable industry-specific networking hardware. Knowledge of cybersecurity principles. Experience with cloud-native IoT platforms (e.g., AWS IoT, Azure IoT) and data analytics for performance monitoring. Familiarity with network diagnostic tools like Wireshark, Viavi, and logical analyzers. Location This position will be on-site based in Sugar Land, Texas. Why AOI?
