Our dynamic logistics center in Des Moines, Iowa is looking for a skilled Material Handler to join our team. This position is integral to the efficient operation of our warehouse, focusing on the safe and accurate movement and storage of materials. You will be responsible for operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment, as well as loading and unloading shipments. The ideal candidate possesses a strong work ethic, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to safety. Valid forklift certification and previous experience are highly desirable. We prioritize a safe working environment and provide all required PPE, along with comprehensive training. Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Move materials between different areas of the warehouse, including receiving, storage, and shipping.
- Accurately track inventory and update records in the warehouse management system.
- Organize and maintain inventory in designated storage locations.
- Inspect materials for damage and report any issues.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, including the proper use of PPE.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
- Assist with shipping and receiving tasks as needed.
- Participate in regular inventory counts.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid forklift certification and demonstrated experience operating forklifts.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Material Handler or similar warehouse role.
- Ability to perform lifting up to 60 pounds.
- Knowledge of warehouse safety regulations and procedures.
- Familiarity with inventory control principles and warehouse management systems.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
- Must wear required PPE, such as safety shoes, vests, and gloves.
