We are looking for a proactive and organized Shipping & Receiving Associate to join our logistics team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This dual-role position is critical to the efficient operation of our warehouse, managing both the inflow and outflow of goods. You will be responsible for accurately receiving incoming shipments, verifying contents, and preparing outgoing orders for dispatch. This role demands excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining inventory accuracy. You will work closely with suppliers, carriers, and internal teams to ensure smooth operations. The ideal candidate is adept at multitasking and can thrive in a fast-paced warehouse environment. Safety is our top priority, and you will be required to follow all safety regulations and utilize appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times. This position involves regular lifting and physical activity, requiring candidates to be capable of handling warehouse duties effectively. A good understanding of warehouse logistics and inventory management principles is highly beneficial. Training will be provided, but prior experience in shipping, receiving, or general warehouse roles is advantageous. Responsibilities:
- Receive and inspect incoming shipments, verifying accuracy against documentation.
- Process and prepare outgoing shipments, ensuring correct items and quantities.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment safely.
- Maintain accurate inventory records through diligent data entry.
- Manage loading and unloading of trucks.
- Ensure the receiving and shipping areas are clean, organized, and safe.
- Adhere to all company safety protocols and use required PPE.
- Communicate with internal departments and external carriers regarding shipments.
- Identify and report discrepancies or damages promptly.
- Support overall warehouse logistics efficiency.
- Perform tasks involving regular lifting and physical labor.
- Participate in inventory cycle counts.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Proven experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Proficiency with warehouse management systems (WMS) is a plus.
Excellent communication skills.
Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to PPE guidelines.
