This role ensures that all mechanical, electrical, control and process-treatment systems operate safely, efficiently and in accordance with project specifications, industry standards and client requirements.
The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise in water treatment processes, instrumentation and control systems and thrives in fast-paced, high-reliability sectors such as mission-critical data centre operations.
Key Responsibilities: Commissioning & Testing Plan, execute, and document commissioning activities for water treatment systems (e.g., filtration, softening, RO, UF, chemical dosing, polishing).
Conduct functional testing, FAT/SAT support, equipment start-up, performance testing, and process optimisation.
Verify operation of pumps, valves, skids, chemical handling systems, controls and treatment stages.
Ensure all systems comply with project specifications, HSE requirements and relevant standards.
Data Centre Systems Integration Coordinate commissioning activities with mechanical, electrical, and BMS/SCADA teams within data centre environments.
Validate water quality and system performance to meet cooling, humidification and process-water requirements.
Troubleshoot system interactions related to cooling towers, adiabatic systems, closed-loop circuits, and humidity control.
Technical Documentation & Reporting Develop commissioning plans, method statements, risk assessments and testing protocols.
Produce detailed commissioning reports, performance summaries and O&M documentation.
Maintain accurate logs of test results, deviations, punch-list items and rectification plans.
Client & Stakeholder Coordination Work closely with project managers, design engineers, contractors and client FM/operations teams.
Participate in technical meetings, design reviews and handover discussions.
Provide technical support and training to client operations teams during transition to steady-state operations.
Quality, Safety & Compliance Ensure all commissioning activities follow safety legislation, environmental guidelines and internal quality systems.
Identify design or installation issues and propose/implement corrective actions.
Champion safe work practices within high-risk, mission-critical environments.
Required Skills & Experience: Technical Expertise Strong knowledge of water treatment technologies (e.g., RO, UF, ion exchange, chemical dosing, disinfection, filtration).
Experience with instrumentation, control systems, PLCs, and BMS/SCADA interfaces.
Understanding of mechanical and electrical systems in industrial or mission-critical facilities.
Experience Previous commissioning or process engineering experience in water treatment, industrial utilities, or data centre sectors.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot mechanical, process and control system issues.
Qualifications Degree/HND in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
Relevant certifications (e.g., IOSH/NEBOSH, water treatment qualifications) beneficial.
Behavioural Skills Strong problem-solving ability and technical curiosity.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Flexible, self-driven and capable of working independently or within multi-disciplinary teams.
Desirable Experience (Optional): Commissioning in hyperscale cloud provider facilities (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google).
Experience with high-purity or ultrapure water systems.
Familiarity with data centre cooling systems and redundancy models (N, N+1, 2N).
Knowledge of environmental compliance related to water discharge and chemical handling.
Working Conditions: Site-based or hybrid role depending on project phase.
May require travel to national or international project sites.
Work in construction, live data centre, and plant-room environments.
