Senior Backend Engineer (Elixir)

You’ll join a team of engineers across Frontend, Backend, SRE and QA. We are organized into cross-functional development teams assigned to specific verticals. This role is open for several teams; the exact team will be defined during the interview process based on business needs and your preferences. Regardless of the team, you will build tools, APIs and integrations for one of our products. Our backend uses Elixir and Phoenix with a Postgres database, and our frontend uses React and Next.js. We use Gitlab for version control, issue tracking and CI/CD. Our applications are hosted on AWS and we deploy multiple times per day.

• Lead the development of major team-scoped projects and participate in cross-team initiatives
• Engage in product work: provide feedback, suggest solutions, and leverage technical insights to improve the product
• Maintain a solid understanding of the team’s domain from both product and engineering perspectives
• Provide feedback on code reviews and contribute to the shared codebase
• Debug and resolve technical and business issues
• Participate in non-team activities (support rotations, hiring, RFC discussions, etc.)
• Mentor engineers and guide peers
• Investigate and implement platform improvements with performance, scalability and maintainability in mind
• Design and implement APIs with emphasis on performance and reliability

• Significant experience as a Backend Engineer with Elixir, including building, shipping and maintaining complex software
• Postgres (or similar)
• CI/CD experience (GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins or similar)

Remote’s Total Rewards philosophy ensures fair and competitive compensation and equity pay across locations. We pay above local in-location rates and support global talent hiring. The salary range for this full-time position is USD 51,850 to 116,650, with actual pay determined by location, skills, experience and market demand. The base pay range may change.
