It is a compassionate nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of individuals with neurological disabilities and their caregivers. We will provide transformative community programs that enhance mobility, engagement, and support, all at little to no cost to participants. The DEFY Center has a dedicated facility committed to providing neuro rehab training for individuals with neurological disabilities. Job Description: Must share a passionate understanding of our mission: People recovering from catastrophic injury often need more care than the traditional healthcare system is able to provide. As a Physical Therapist for Special Populations at DEFY, you will play a crucial role in empowering individuals with neurological disabilities through neuro rehab training. This position requires a compassionate individual with knowledge of exercise science who can be trained on the provision of specialized training and is capable of offering emotional support to our members.
DEFY was created to help complete this continuum of care. DEFY centers its patient-centric services on activity-based exercise and integrates locomotor training, neuromuscular electrical stimulation, vibration plate training and other intensive interventions to promote neuroplasticity and maximize recovery following injury. Physical Therapists will work with trainers who are responsible for leading adaptive exercise sessions, developing appropriate plans of care, and setting measurable and attainable client goals.
Physical Therapists will also work closely with our Trainers to communicate and develop exercise plans to form a comprehensive care program for patients.
Responsibilities including but not limited to:
* Neuro Rehab Training: Design and implement neuro rehab training programs tailored to the unique needs of individuals with neurological disabilities.
* Assistance and Lifting: Be comfortable lifting and placing individuals from their wheelchairs onto equipment, ensuring their safety and comfort during training sessions.
* Document or track exercise programs. Regularly track client progress through assessments, documenting functional improvements and making necessary adjustments to exercise programs.
* Collaborate and communicate with the physical therapy team to assist in evaluating client needs and progress towards goals
* Care Calls: Make regular care calls to DEFY members, providing additional support and fostering a sense of community.
* Event Participation: Actively participate in DEFY events, which may occur on weekends, contributing to the overall positive atmosphere and sense of community.
* Facility Maintenance: Take responsibility for maintaining the gym and other key environments within the facility to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming space.
* Team Collaboration: Be a critical member of the DEFY’s team, participating in staff meetings to stay updated on organizational developments and ensuring alignment with the overall mission.
Role Description
This is a Full-time or Part-time on-site role for a Physical Therapist at DEFY Neuro Rehab. The Physical Therapist will be responsible for providing rehabilitation services, care and support to individuals recovering from brain or spinal cord injuries. Daily tasks will involve conducting therapy sessions, creating personalized treatment plans, monitoring progress, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals. Qualifications
Physical Therapy skills
Experience in Rehabilitation and Patient Care
Knowledge of Activity-Based Therapy (preferred, not required)
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to create personalized treatment plans
Compassionate and patient-centered approach
Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
Physical Therapy license in the state of Oklahoma
Qualifications:
Background in basic exercise science. Relevant majors include, but are not limited to: kinesiology, exercise science, pre-physical therapy, pre-occupational therapy, therapeutic recreation.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to provide emotional support to individuals going through difficult seasons.
Enthusiastic and energetic presence to push clients through workouts
Problem-Solving Skills. Capacity to identify challenges and develop creative solutions to overcome limitations.
Comfortable with physical tasks, including lifting and assisting individuals with physical disabilities onto equipment.
Willingness to participate in DEFY’s events, which may occasionally take place on weekends.
Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Eagerness to learn about neurological disorders, treatment, and practices.
