We are seeking an experienced and adaptable Superintendent Pharmacist to join our senior leadership team. This is a pivotal role with full professional, legal, and ethical responsibility for the management and oversight of all pharmacy services within TCP Homecare. The Superintendent Pharmacist will set the strategic direction for the pharmacy function, ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, and champion a culture of patient safety, quality, and continuous improvement. The role is ideal for a highly capable pharmacist ready to take a significant step forward in their career within a complex, bespoke, and growing organisation.
Leadership & Governance
- Lead the pharmacy function and contribute to wider organisational strategy as part of the senior management team.
- Ensure TCP maintains ongoing registration and compliance with the PSI, Pharmacy Act 2007, Medicines Acts, statutory rules, and relevant professional guidance.
- Set and drive the professional and clinical standards across the organisation, ensuring the safe and efficient supply of medicines at all times.
Quality, Safety & Process Excellence
- Oversee all pharmacy policies, procedures, and SOPs, including approval and governance.
- Manage the quality system for licensable activities, including storage, distribution, and documentation standards.
- Lead error reporting, incident review, and corrective/preventative actions to ensure robust patient safety standards.
- Work closely with the Head of Quality & Patient Safety to deliver audits, quality reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Operational & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop the pharmacy team, ensuring appropriate training and competency management.
- Support and oversee the Supervising Pharmacist, ensuring consistent implementation of all policies and regulatory requirements.
- Manage recalls, supplier approvals, and all aspects of safe supply‑chain activity where pharmacy oversight is required.
Business & Collaboration
- Work cross‑functionally with Operations, Nursing, Commercial, Quality, and Client Services teams to support business development and the roll‑out of new services.
- Use strong commercial acumen to set objectives for the pharmacy function and contribute to the company’s growth strategy.
- Support client relationship management by representing the pharmacy function with professionalism and expertise.
Essential Criteria
- Registered pharmacist with a minimum of 3+ years post‑registration experience (ideally 5+ years).
- Demonstrated leadership capability, including direct line‑management experience.
- Proven ability to perform in a fast‑paced, regulated environment.
- Possess a strong understanding of regulatory and governance obligations under the Pharmacy Act 2007, appropriate medicines act and related legislation.
- Excellent attention to detail with a passion for quality documentation, process control, and compliance excellence.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Commercial awareness with the ability to set and deliver functional objectives.
Desirable Criteria
- Previous experience in hospital pharmacy, clinical services, or industrial pharmacy is a distinct advantage.
- Experience working within, or adapting to, complex or bespoke service models.
- Evidence of driving service improvements that have enhanced patient outcomes.
