Overview:
My client, a reputable Financial Services organisation, is looking to hire an accomplished Data Scientist (mid-level) to join the business. This position will provide you with the opportunity to work in an entrepreneurial, project-driven, greenfield environment as the firm embarks on a large-scale tech modernization programme. This is an extremely dynamic organization - it is essential that you are comfortable working in a fast-paced, nimble fashion and are keen to be pro-active, working closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels.
Role Review:
The client is looking for a highly skilled Data Scientist to join the team and lead the development of advanced analytical and machine learning solutions across their data ecosystem. This is a hands-on, technically focused role requiring expertise in predictive modelling, natural language processing (NLP), large language model (LLM) workflows, and production-grade machine learning systems.
You will work on high-impact initiatives involving both structured and unstructured financial data, internal research content, alternative datasets, and AI-powered applications. The ideal person for the role combines strong statistical and machine learning expertise with the ability to design scalable pipelines, productionise models in cloud environments, and collaborate closely with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to deliver measurable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities: Design, build, and deploy end-to-end machine learning and data science solutions, from data preparation through production deployment and monitoring. Develop predictive, statistical, and NLP models using internal and external datasets. Apply transformer-based architectures and deep learning frameworks for advanced language and machine learning applications. Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to define use cases, scope projects, and translate requirements into technical solutions. Develop proof-of-concept models and evolve them into scalable, production-ready workflows. Work closely with engineering teams to productionise models via APIs, pipelines, and cloud-based deployment architectures. Implement best practices for data validation, model evaluation, monitoring, and documentation. Contribute to AI-powered applications including search, classification, information extraction, summarisation, and analytics. Desired Skills:
Strong programming skills in Python and SQL. Experience with machine learning frameworks such as scikit-learn, XGBoost, LightGBM, PyTorch, or TensorFlow. Experience working with NLP and LLM workflows, including text analytics, classification, retrieval, or transformer-based models. Familiarity with cloud platforms, particularly Azure, for deploying and scaling machine learning solutions. Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control, and working within Agile development environments. Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
