We are seeking a diligent and organized Receiving Clerk to join our dynamic logistics team in New York City, New York. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately receiving, inspecting, and documenting all incoming shipments. This role is crucial to maintaining efficient warehouse operations and ensuring that our inventory levels are accurate. You will be the first point of contact for many deliveries, so professionalism and attention to detail are paramount.
Responsibilities:
- Receive and unload incoming shipments from vendors and carriers.
- Verify the accuracy of received goods against purchase orders and shipping manifests.
- Inspect goods for damage or defects and report any discrepancies or issues.
- Properly document all received items, including quantities, lot numbers, and receiving dates.
- Staging goods for put-away or direct distribution.
- Maintain a clean and organized receiving area.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Communicate effectively with suppliers, drivers, and internal departments regarding deliveries.
- Assist with inventory counts and reconciliation as needed.
- Operate basic warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, if required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a warehouse or receiving environment is a plus.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems is an advantage.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform manual tasks, including occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to all PPE guidelines.
