General Summary

As part of the audio software global development team at Qualcomm, you will have the opportunity to work with an international team of hardware, systems, and software engineers to develop and integrate cutting-edge audio technology on DSP platforms powered by Qualcomm SoCs. Qualcomm SoCs provide integrated solutions for smartphones, computing, entertainment, automotive, connectivity, and IoT products worldwide. The audio software team drives the feature design, development, integration, and commercialization of audio software and applications on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors. We are seeking passionate, ambitious, and technically gifted software engineers to develop embedded audio and voice software for smart phones, smart speakers, smart assistants, smart media boxes, and a wide array of other smart devices across mobile, compute, connectivity, automotive, and IoT product spaces. At the same time, the audio software team is a technology leader that has open-sourced the AudioReach™ SDK to grow a community-sponsored project. You will have the opportunity to practice an open development process and engage directly with the community. Note: This role requires 5 days per week onsite in our Cork office.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
2+ years of academic or work experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
Master’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field and 1+ year of Software Engineering or related work experience.
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of Embedded Software development with relevant industry experience.
Excellent C/C++ programming, Python, and other scripting language skills with proven experience writing efficient code for embedded systems and multi-threaded environments.
Knowledge of software design patterns and multi-threaded programming.
Knowledge of computer architecture, real-time operating systems, data structures, and basic algorithms.
Understanding of power, memory, and performance considerations on embedded systems.
Background and experience in several of the following areas:
Embedded driver development and debugging.
Various debug tools and techniques.
Optimization techniques for memory and performance.
Developing and debugging software on ARM/DSP or other embedded processors and SoCs.
Multimedia/Audio Experience
Familiar with:
Multimedia or audio software framework design and development.
Audio usage models including playback, recording, voice activation, voice call, and audio context detection.
Standard audio bus interfaces (I2S, TDM, SoundWire).
Driver development for audio mixed-signal peripherals (CODEC, speaker amp, digital microphone).
DSP Experience
Experienced in designing and optimizing audio DSP pipelines across heterogeneous compute (CPU/DSP/NPU), considering latency, power, and memory trade-offs.
Knowledgeable in real-time audio signal processing and fixed-point/floating-point arithmetic.
Experienced in integration of audio signal chains from capture to playback, including IPC, buffer management, and synchronization across OS and DSP frameworks.
