Salary: Up to £49,000 depending on skills and experience

What you will be doing
In this role, you will support and deliver electrical engineering expertise across the Barrow site. Acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will define site standards, review design proposals, and provide guidance to ensure electrical installations meet technical, safety, and operational requirements. You will produce technical documentation, support problem solving, and help improve both new and existing infrastructure, working collaboratively with engineering teams and stakeholders across the site.
Core duties
- You will define and maintain site electrical engineering standards and technical requirements to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient electrical installations
- You will review and assess electrical design proposals, applying knowledge of industrial electrical engineering principles , relevant regulations, and standards such as BS7671
- You will produce and maintain technical documentation, reports, and guidance to support engineering activities and ensure compliance with industry and site standards
- You will investigate and resolve electrical engineering issues, drawing on practical experience in industrial engineering environments and applying problem-solving skills to support continuous improvement
- You will act as a Subject Matter Expert , providing technical support and guidance to engineering teams and projects across the site
- You will contribute to professional development and continuous learning, supporting the application of recognised standards, driving compliance, and engaging with professional institutions such as the IET
The Site Specialist Engineering Electrical Team
The Site Specialist Engineering Electrical team provides specialist support across a wide range of electrical disciplines including LV, HV, Control & Instrumentation (C&I) and Communications. The team offers opportunities to problem solve, drive innovative solutions, and develop professional skills. As the Barrow site grows, you will contribute to the development of new facilities and support improvements to ageing and existing systems, structures, and components. Relocation support packages are available for eligible Submarines roles.
