Job Description

Valley Forge Military College
Wayne, PA
Salary Range:  $45,000–$50,000 (commensurate with experience)

Position Overview

Valley Forge Military College (VFMC) is a private military junior college in Wayne, Pennsylvania, with a long-standing tradition of educating and developing student leaders. VFMC is seeking an Admissions Recruiter & Coordinator  to support undergraduate recruitment and admissions operations.

This position is ideal for a 3–5 year admissions or recruitment professional  who enjoys relationship-building, student and parent engagement, and managing the day-to-day mechanics of the admissions process. The role works closely with the Director of Admissions and serves as a critical in-office anchor, ensuring continuity of operations while senior staff are engaged in external recruitment and counselor outreach.

Key Responsibilities

Admissions Processing & Operations

  • Process undergraduate applications and supporting documents
  • Prepare and manage admissions decisions and offer letters
  • Maintain accurate applicant records in the CRM and student information system
  • Track leads, follow up on incomplete files, and support yield efforts
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for prospective students and families via phone, email, and virtual meetings

Recruitment & Outreach Support

  • Engage with prospective students, parents, counselors, and community partners in a professional, tactful manner
  • Support recruitment initiatives including college fairs, career fairs, and on-campus events
  • Participate in limited regional travel for recruitment events as needed
  • Assist with follow-up communications after fairs, visits, and outreach activities

Student & Family Engagement

  • Clearly explain admissions requirements, timelines, and next steps
  • Provide guidance on both traditional college pathways and military-affiliated educational options
  • Communicate with empathy and confidence when addressing family concerns and student goals

Training & Professional Development

  • Receive structured training on VFMC academic programs, military pathways, ROTC-aligned options, and student support systems
  • Learn institutional admissions policies, scholarship frameworks, and compliance expectations
  • Grow into increased responsibility as experience and proficiency develop

Qualifications

Required

  • 3–5 years of experience in admissions, recruiting, enrollment management, sales, or a comparable relationship-driven role
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities and independent workflows
  • Ability to handle sensitive conversations with professionalism and discretion
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening as part of onboarding

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Prior experience in higher education admissions or student services
  • Military, Guard, ROTC, or veteran-serving experience
  • Experience working with families, counselors, or young adults in transition
  • CRM or student information system experience

Work Environment & Expectations

  • Primarily office-based with some local and regional travel for recruitment events
  • Not a high-volume call-center environment
  • Requires judgment, tact, and relationship-building rather than transactional recruiting
  • Collaborative team setting with direct mentorship from senior admissions leadership

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $45,000–$50,000 , based on experience
  • Comprehensive medical benefits package
  • Paid time off and institutional holidays
  • Professional development and on-the-job training opportunities

  • Wayne, Michigan, United States
