Sales Engineer / Account Manager – Gas Detection & Industrial Instrumentation

We are DwyerOmega, a global manufacturer of precision sensing, monitoring and control technologies. Our portfolio includes pressure, temperature, flow, level, humidity and gas detection instrumentation used in industrial processing, building services, life sciences, utilities, manufacturing and energy environments.
Our gas detection range supports safety-critical applications including refrigerant leak detection, toxic gas monitoring, combustion safety and commercial HVAC compliance.
We are seeking a technically strong Sales Engineer / Account Manager to develop the Republic of Ireland market, with primary responsibility for gas detection systems and a strategic remit to expand adoption of the wider DwyerOmega instrumentation portfolio.
This is a consultative, engineering-led sales role. You will engage with mechanical & electrical consultants, facilities engineers, contractors, system integrators and plant managers to provide technically robust measurement and safety solutions. You will manage the full sales cycle — from application analysis and specification through to commercial close and after-sales engagement.
Territory & Account Growth
- Develop and execute a structured territory growth plan aligned with EMEA objectives.
- Identify opportunities within HVAC, cold storage, data centres, pharmaceutical, utilities and industrial sectors.
- Manage and grow existing accounts while developing new project-based opportunities.
- Build relationships with consulting engineers and design firms to influence early-stage decisions.
- Position gas detection as an entry point into broader DwyerOmega sensing and control solutions.
- Identify cross-selling opportunities across pressure, temperature, flow and environmental monitoring products.
- Ensure proposals are technically robust and commercially viable.
Technical Application Development
- Provide application-level support for fixed gas detection systems across commercial and industrial environments.
- Conduct site surveys and advise on sensor placement, detection technologies and compliance considerations.
- Interpret customer specifications, P&IDs and technical drawings.
- Deliver technical presentations to engineering stakeholders.
- Support specification positioning at design stage to drive project inclusion.
Commercial & Operational Discipline
- Maintain structured pipeline management and forecasting via CRM.
- Prepare quotations and technical submittals.
- Monitor competitor activity and provide market intelligence feedback.
- Support resolution of technical and after-sales queries in collaboration with internal teams.
Technical Background
- Degree or Higher Diploma in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical or Building Services Engineering preferred.
- 3–7 years’ experience in gas detection, industrial instrumentation, process measurement, BMS or HVAC controls.
- Understanding of sensor technologies (electrochemical, IR) and signal outputs (4–20mA, Modbus).
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Commercial Capability
- Experience in field-based technical sales or application engineering.
- Proven track record of delivering revenue growth within a defined territory.
- Strong negotiation skills and commercial awareness.
- Ability to operate autonomously with disciplined territory management.
