Location: Halifax
Type: Full-time Permanent
Salary: Competitive based on experience
The Role
We’re looking for a Construction Manager who is steady under pressure, and capable of leading residential projects from pre-construction to occupancy with a can-do attitude and a people-oriented mindset.
This role is ideal for a experienced builder who understands full residential builds end-to-end and can confidently manage trades, schedules, permits, and inspections for 4-unit buildings, townhouses, small apartments, and renovations. You will naturally seek to engage early and often with project partners and, apply sound construction judgment. You’ll work closely with Banner’s President, with the authority and support to do things the right way, spending the majority of your time managing and coordinating, with some time hands-on as needed to support quality, sequencing, or problem-solving.
If you’ve reached the point in your career where you want to lead builds rather than swing a hammer all day, but still value physical building, this role offers both responsibility and room to grow.
What You’ll Do
- Lead planning, permitting, budgeting, and occupancy processes
- Review drawings and proactively flag constructability, scope, or sequencing issues
- Manage inspections, permits, and coordination with consultants and municipal staff
- Plan, coordinate, and manage subcontractors, schedules, and site logistics
- Oversee daily construction activity and maintain momentum on site
- Track progress against schedules and support budget awareness
- Solve problems early and decisively as conditions change
- Maintain safety standards, site organization, and professional job sites
- Step onto the tools when required to support quality or resolve issues
- Help improve systems, workflows, and documentation
- Set the tone on site: calm, capable, respectful, and accountable
Who This Suits
We’re not focused on years alone — we’re focused on judgment, adaptability, and depth where it counts.
This role suits someone who:
- Has strong residential construction experience and sound instincts
- Has led or significantly contributed to projects from design through occupancy
- Is comfortable leading trades and making real-time decisions on site
- Understands construction sequencing, coordination, and practical budgeting
- Communicates clearly and respectfully
- Is flexible, capable, and willing to do what’s needed to move the project forward
- Is interested in variety and growth, with some time on tools
- Brings a safety mindet
- Has Construction Project Management Certification or equivalent experience
Systems & Growth
Our systems are practical and evolving. If you enjoy building better ways of working — whether through improved scheduling, clearer coordination, or integrating software — your contribution will be welcomed.
Projects are primarily subcontractor-led today, with potential to build an in-house crew in the future. Your experience and input will help shape how that evolves. Success in the role will help expand our project pipeline; we have a track record of supporting career advancement aligned with individual goals.
Our Values in Practice
People First
We treat trades, teammates, and partners with respect. Safety is embedded in our culture.
Grit Mindset
We do the work. We don’t pass problems along. We persist until we find success.
Force for Positivity
We aim for our projects — and our job sites — to leave people and communities better than we found them.
If you’re a Construction Manager who thrives on building, problem-solving, and leading from the site — and who values craftsmanship, safety, and momentum — we’d like to hear from you. Those chosen for an interview will be contacted.
