Join the Core Technology team in Dolby's Entertainment organization to create spectacular experiences for consumers in every home while shaping the strategic future of our intellectual property (IP) security program. At Dolby, protecting our intellectual property is as crucial as creating it. This highly visible role combines technical security architecture expertise with strategic business leadership to safeguard Dolby's innovations across all platforms, from embedded systems to consumer devices.


Your role is to work at the intersection of security architecture, intellectual property protection, and business strategy. You'll help model our long‑term IP security program by providing both corporate guidance and hands‑on technical leadership to advance our licensing model for the future. This position blends deep technical proficiency with business acumen to ensure our security strategies align with business needs while implementing the controls necessary to protect our investments and revenue streams.


We are seeking an accomplished professional with proven Cyber and/or IP Security technical expertise, strong business acumen, and the leadership skills to drive both technical excellence and strategic business outcomes.


Essential Job Functions

  • Define, create and deliver Dolby’s Cyber and IP security vision and value proposition
  • Develop and maintain security architectures and threat models to protect Dolby's intellectual property across all deployment platforms and device categories
  • Provide security guidance and consultation to engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle, including secure coding practices and vulnerability assessments to ensure the development of secure products
  • Investigate and evaluate new software protection mechanisms, focusing on optimal balance between cost, complexity, security, and flexibility
  • Maintain industry alignment on security standards and provide thought leadership on future security requirements
  • Drive consensus across multiple stakeholder teams to obtain buy‑in from those groups on proposed solutions
  • Use sound business judgment to influence and change mindsets to drive IP Security as the next frontier in driving profitability and shareholder value
  • Champion cross‑functional stakeholder efforts to better predict contingent outcomes from both the customer and market competitive perspectives
  • Understand the company and customer business ecosystem to better integrate the Cyber and IP Security value proposition throughout the supply chain while balancing the needs of both
  • Drive the IP Security engineering teams to deliver these security controls xcfaprz using agile methodology, and be adaptable to changes in the market or in the internal environment
  • Define test strategies used to verify the level of robustness of both internal and external software protection mechanisms, as defined by product requirements and legal agreements

Requirements

  • Minimum 10+ years of work experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or related field (Masters preferred)
  • MBA, or other business qualification is preferred
  • Able to think strategically and tactically with business results in mind
  • An evangelizer of new and innovative ideas, persuasive communicator able to articulate ideas and thoughts clearly through various means, including written and oral communications with all levels of the organization
  • Experience with software protection and anti‑reverse engineering techniques
  • Wide‑range knowledge of intellectual property (IP) protection and security landscape
  • Key technologies and players in the market
  • Mechanisms and techniques to protect both hardware and software IP
