Sr. Civil Engineer
- British Columbia, Canada
- British Columbia, Canada
À propos
Our client is seeking a senior civil engineering leader to anchor their British Columbia office and step into a succession path for the current practice lead. You’ll bring a minimum of 10 years of consulting experience across multiple divisions/sectors and at least 7 years of Canadian project experience.
This is a general civil role (transportation/municipal/site development/airports/water), not structural, for a leader who can design, manage, and build lasting client partnerships in northern BC.
- Succession track: Grow into the local practice lead role, guiding strategy, client accounts, delivery, and team development.
- Broad project mix: While aligned under Transportation, the team supports a range of civil projects across municipalities, airports, industrial, water, and site development.
- Community impact: Work where your designs directly support the needs of a remote, resource-driven region. Northern British Columbia residency is required, and local context matters.
What you’ll do
- Lead and review civil design deliverables (reports, drawings, models, calculations) and provide design management across transportation and municipal infrastructure projects.
- Oversee permitting and approvals, coordinate with authorities, contractors, and stakeholders, and seal work as appropriate.
- Run full-cycle project management (scope, schedule, budget, risk), including construction-phase input and oversight.
- Own client account management: develop scopes/fees, lead progress reviews, resolve issues early, and expand relationships.
- Drive business development: lead/author proposals, support account planning, and represent the practice in the region.
- Mentor and upskill engineers/EITs/technologists; model a culture of safety, collaboration, and quality.
What you’ll bring
- 10+ years in consulting with multi-divisional exposure (e.g., transportation, municipal, site development, airports, industrial, water); structural specialization is not required.
- 7+ years of Canadian project experience with working knowledge of BC/TAC/MMCD standards and provincial/municipal approvals.
- Proven client-facing leadership: you’re comfortable owning portfolios, guiding strategy, and growing accounts.
- Strong command of project economics (scoping, fees, forecasts, cost control) and quality management.
- P.Eng. in BC (or eligibility for registration with EGBC).
- Excellent communication and people leadership skills; experienced mentor and team builder.
Tools & platforms
- Civil design & modeling: AutoCAD, Civil 3D, AutoTURN.
- Traffic/workflow: Synchro, VISSIM (asset).
- Water resources: HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, StormCAD, WaterCAD, PondPack (assets).
- GIS and MS Office for planning, analysis, and reporting.
Location & work style
- Northern British Columbia - this environment rewards resilience and a community mindset. Some regional travel for client/site meetings is expected.
- Office-based with periodic field presence as projects require.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related) required; Master’s an asset. Licensed P.Eng. in British Columbia (or immediately eligible).
What success looks like in 12–18 months
- You’re the go-to for clients across multiple sectors, with strong CSAT and repeat work.
- Projects are delivered on scope/schedule/budget with robust risk and quality controls.
- The local team is growing and leveling up, clear development plans, stronger delivery rhythms, and well-documented best practices.
- You’re actively transitioning into practice leadership, owning resource planning, forecasting, and strategic account growth.
Compensation & benefits
- Competitive package aligned with seniority and leadership track; details shared during the interview process.
Compétences linguistiques
- English
