Sheet Metal Project Manager – Institutional Project

Position Summary:

We are currently seeking a Sheet Metal Project Manager to join our client’s team on a major institutional project in Vancouver Downtown.


This role is best suited for a Project Manager with experience delivering institutional, commercial, or high-rise mechanical projects, and who is comfortable leading projects from planning through completion.


Reporting to senior leadership, the Project Manager will be responsible for the overall coordination, scheduling, financial management, and successful delivery of assigned projects.


Key Responsibilities:

Project Leadership

  • Lead assigned projects from start to completion
  • Establish project expectations and communicate goals to project teams
  • Coordinate with field leadership to ensure successful project execution
  • Provide direction to Project Coordinators as required

Project Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop and maintain project schedules, including critical path activities
  • Ensure project milestones and deadlines are achieved
  • Maintain project documentation and reporting systems
  • Assist with design coordination when required

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients and project stakeholders
  • Build strong working relationships with project teams and clients
  • Attend project meetings as required
  • Coordinate project changes and site instructions

Technical Coordination

  • Review and approve shop drawings and RFIs
  • Coordinate drawing revisions and project documentation
  • Assist with QA/QC and commissioning processes
  • Coordinate O&M manuals and project closeout documentation

Procurement & Logistics

  • Procure equipment, materials, and sub-trades
  • Coordinate major equipment deliveries and site logistics
  • Manage sub-trades to ensure compliance with project scope and schedule

Financial Management

  • Manage project budgets and job costing
  • Produce monthly progress draws
  • Monitor financial performance and report to management
  • Submit quotations for changes and extra work

Health & Safety

  • Work with field leadership to implement project-specific safety plans
  • Maintain compliance with company safety standards


Qualifications:

  • 8–10 years of experience in the Sheet Metal or Mechanical industry
  • Previous experience managing institutional or high-rise projects
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and sheet metal drawings
  • Experience with Bluebeam, Procore, Revizto, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
  • Revit experience is considered an asset
  • Familiarity with Autodesk and Trimble products is an asset
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Strong problem-solving ability
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Canadian Project Management experience in Mechanical or Sheet Metal required


Working Environment:

This is a full-time, site-based role located in Vancouver.

The role includes:

  • Working on active construction sites
  • Regular coordination with field teams
  • Office and computer-based project management work

Standard work week is 40 hours, with flexibility required based on project needs.


Compensation:

  • Salary: $120,000 – $150,000
