The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Procurement Specialist who combines strategic vision, strong analytical capability, and leadership within a dynamic procurement environment. This role demands an individual capable of managing complex categories, guiding cross-functional decisions, and consistently driving organizational value. The ideal candidate excels in a fast-paced manufacturing setting, leverages market intelligence, and builds strong, performance-driven supplier partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Ownership & Category Leadership
• Lead key procurement KPIs and oversee development and management of annual procurement budgets.
• Manage and execute high-impact procurement projects.
• Serve as the organization’s subject-matter expert for assigned product lines, providing strategic direction and continuous improvement.
• Ensure supply continuity through proactive inventory oversight and risk mitigation.
• Optimize total cost of ownership across pricing, quality, and supplier value.
Market Intelligence & Decision Support
• Monitor commodity markets and economic trends to inform and strengthen procurement strategies.
• Deliver scenario analyses and recommendations to senior leadership.
• Develop and execute competitive RFPs and detailed technical specifications.
Supplier Relationship & Performance Management
• Build and maintain high-value relationships with key domestic and international suppliers.
• Evaluate supplier performance using KPI-driven metrics.
• Lead negotiations to secure competitive and favorable contract terms.
Continuous Improvement & Cross-Functional Leadership
• Identify and implement process improvements across procurement operations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to advance operational and strategic objectives.
• Promote and implement best-in-class sourcing practices.
Qualifications
• Degree or diploma in Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
• SCMP designation or active progression toward completion considered an asset.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in procurement or sourcing, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong expertise in category management, cost analysis, and supplier performance management.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency with ERP systems (Oracle considered an asset).
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Strong critical thinking and analytical capabilities.
• Bilingualism considered an asset.
• Occasional travel required.
• Must be legally eligible to work in New Brunswick. Work sponsorship is not offered for this position.
