We are hiring a Shipping Clerk for our Columbus, Ohio distribution center! This critical role ensures that all outgoing shipments are processed accurately, efficiently, and on time. You will be responsible for preparing shipping documents, verifying shipment details, coordinating with carriers, and ensuring packages are correctly labeled and staged for pickup. A meticulous approach and strong organizational skills are essential for success. You will be a key player in our Logistics operations, directly impacting customer satisfaction through timely and accurate deliveries. Maintaining a safe and organized workspace is a top priority, and strict adherence to all Safety procedures, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE ), is required.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process all shipping documentation, including bills of lading and manifests.
- Verify shipment details against orders to ensure accuracy in destination, contents, and quantity.
- Coordinate with freight carriers for pickup schedules and requirements.
- Ensure all packages are correctly labeled and securely prepared for transit.
- Stage outgoing shipments in the designated loading areas.
- Track shipments and provide updates as needed.
- Maintain accurate shipping records and communicate discrepancies to management.
- Operate shipping equipment such as pallet jacks and scanners.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shipping area, following all warehouse and Safety guidelines.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including the proper use of PPE .
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations is preferred.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills and familiarity with shipping software is a plus.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including moderate Lifting (up to 40 lbs), standing, and walking.
- Strong organizational and attention to detail skills.
- Understanding of shipping processes and Logistics principles.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Commitment to workplace Safety and the correct use of PPE .
