Java Developer - Banking experience

As a Java Developer, you’ll be part of an engineering team responsible for enhancing, designing, and delivering secure, scalable backend solutions that power mission‑critical internal platforms for a Global Bank. This is a unique opportunity to join a newly established backend engineering team delivering a globally scaled Employee Experience Technology platform used by tens of thousands of users across multiple continents.

Location: Dublin – Fully Onsite

Salary: £60,000 – £90,000 + 5% Bonus

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Engagement Model: Employed via a global technology consultancy, deployed into a Tier‑1 global financial institution

• Design and develop backend services using Java and Spring Boot
  
• Build and enhance microservices and APIs
  
• Contribute to system design and architectural decisions
  
• Deploy and support applications within AWS cloud environments
  
• Ensure performance, resilience, and security best practices
  
• Participate in CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices
  
• Troubleshoot, optimise, and maintain enterprise‑scale applications

• Strong hands‑on experience in Java development
  
• Proven experience with Spring Boot, Microservices, and REST APIs
  
• Experience working within AWS cloud environments
  
• Solid understanding of system design, application development, and operational stability
  
• Experience working in large, complex enterprise environments
  
• Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  
• Experience with CI/CD, application resiliency, and security best practices
  
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
  
• Experience with Kafka or other messaging frameworks
  
• Exposure to Test‑Driven Development (TDD)
  
• Knowledge of OAuth authentication & authorization patterns
