Main Responsibilities


The Industrial Automation Technician will support the repair, modernization, installation, and maintenance of industrial press systems and automated manufacturing equipment. The role focuses on electrical control systems, PLC programming, instrumentation, and automation support. Key responsibilities include:


  • Evaluate electrical, instrumentation, and automation components of customer requests related to repair and modernization projects.
  • Assist in developing technical specifications and automation solutions for project quotations.
  • Prepare and update electrical and instrumentation documentation, wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, and logic diagrams.
  • Program, configure, test, and troubleshoot programmable logic controllers using platforms such as Allen Bradley, Siemens, and GE Fanuc;
  • Develop, configure, and maintain Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) and supervisory control systems.
  • Assist in the design and modification of electrical control panels and industrial automation systems.
  • Perform installation, commissioning, start-up, and functional testing of automation systems on-site;
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical, control, and instrumentation issues both remotely and at customer sites;
  • Participate in preventive maintenance activities and technical inspections to ensure operational reliability;
  • Provide technical support to service and sales teams regarding automation-related matters;
  • Prepare technical documentation and assist in the development of operator and maintenance training materials;
  • Participate in the on-call service program to respond to urgent automation service requests;
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to implement system upgrades and performance improvements.


Qualifications


  • Completion of a college program in Industrial Automation is required;
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of work experience in an Industrial Automation Specialist role
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.


Salary and Work Schedule


Salary: CAD $70.20 per hour (40 hours per week)

Schedule: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week

Full-time position

Expected Duration: 3 years

Anticipated Start Date: January 1, 2026
