Urban Planner (Intermediate) — Kingston, ON
Permanent | Full-Time
If you’re an urban planner with a few solid years under your belt and you’re starting to think about balance, stability, and building something meaningful, this might be worth a look.
I run a Kingston-based real estate development company focused on delivering housing that actually gets built — market housing, student residences, and affordable units. We currently manage over 5,000 units , have multiple projects under construction , and a long-term pipeline targeting approximately 1,000 new units per year over the next 7–10 years .
This isn’t speculative planning work — these are real projects moving through approvals and into the ground.
We’re looking for an Intermediate Urban Planner (5–8 years’ experience) to help lead planning approvals and land-use strategy across our developments.
This is a hands-on role with real responsibility — but also one that respects the fact that people have lives outside of work.
What you’d be doing
- Leading rezoning, Official Plan amendments, and site plan approvals
- Working directly with the City of Kingston and other agencies
- Coordinating consultants (planning, engineering, urban design)
- Reviewing planning rationale, technical studies, and approvals materials
- Supporting development feasibility and longer-term land strategy
You won’t be stuck in the background — you’ll own files from early concept through approval and see them progress toward construction.
Who this is a good fit for
- You have 5–8 years of planning experience (public, private, or mixed)
- You’re eligible for OPPI / RPP or already a member
- You know Ontario’s planning system and approvals process
- You’re comfortable working independently and making judgment calls
- You value good work, clear expectations, and reasonable hours
What we offer
- Salary range: $88,000–$98,000, depending on experience
- Extended health & dental benefits
- RRSP / retirement contributions
- RESP contribution: $1,000 per year for each child under 18
- Keys in Hand benefit: $1,500 per month toward owning a condo, townhouse, detached home, or investment property
- Hybrid flexibility
- Professional dues & development support
- A permanent, stable role in a growing company with a long-term development pipeline
