We’re looking for a construction‑experienced Health & Safety Representative who will own Ontario OHSA compliance—not just administer it.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the company’s Health & Safety representative , with authority to enforce the Ontario OHSA
- Develop, revise, and maintain Health & Safety policies, procedures, and safe‑work practices
- Lead Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) activities and ensure legislative compliance
- Design and deliver site‑specific safety training, toolbox talks, and safety orientations
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and hazard assessments across project locations
- Lead incident, injury, and investigations, including root‑cause analysis and corrective action plans
- Track, analyze, and report on safety metrics (incident rates, training completion, inspections)
- Stay current on Ontario health and safety legislation and industry best practices
- Provide research and guidance on health and safety requirements for operations outside Ontario
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a Health & Safety role
- Minimum 2 years of construction industry experience
- JHSC certification (Part I & II) and hands‑on committee experience required
- Diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field
- CRSP, NCSO, CSP, or equivalent certification is considered an asset
- Valid G driver’s licence and ability to travel to multiple project sites
- Comfortable working outdoors and in active construction environments
Salary range: $75,000 – $90,000 , commensurate with experience
