About Kasian

Welcome to Kasian, where nearly 40 years of design excellence has inspired us to transform ordinary spaces into extraordinary experiences. We are passionate about strengthening connections between people and places by creating built environments that inspire and improve lives. With offices across Canada and a team of 250+ professionals, we deliver innovative design solutions across commercial, workplace, healthcare, senior living, industrial, transportation, post-secondary, and public sectors.

The Opportunity

Kasian’s Vancouver office is seeking a Senior Project Architect, Associate (Public Sector) to lead and deliver complex projects across a range of building types, with a strong emphasis on public and institutional work.

This role is ideal for a confident, technically strong architect who thrives on taking ownership and can lead projects from early planning and design through construction and close-out, while managing clients, consultants, and municipal stakeholders with professionalism and clarity.

Experience working with municipalities and other public authorities (municipal, provincial, or federal) is essential.

What You’ll Do

Project Leadership & Delivery

  • Lead projects through all phases — pre-design, schematic design, design development, construction documents, and contract administration
  • Take full ownership of scope, schedule, coordination, and quality outcomes
  • Guide internal teams and external consultants to ensure integrated, technically sound design solutions
  • Oversee documentation quality, regulatory compliance, and municipal approvals
  • Navigate permitting processes and authority reviews with confidence
  • Anticipate and proactively manage project risks, budget impacts, and schedule challenges
  • Maintain strong communication with clients, ensuring clarity, accountability, and alignment throughout the lifecycle of the project

Client Engagement

  • Serve as the primary architectural lead with clients, municipalities, and regulatory bodies
  • Lead presentations, technical discussions, and stakeholder meetings
  • Represent Kasian with professionalism and credibility in public-sector environments

Team Leadership & Mentorship

  • Mentor intermediate and junior staff
  • Support resource planning and team coordination in collaboration with Project Managers and Principals
  • Contribute to a positive, high-performance team culture grounded in accountability and collaboration

Pursuits & Growth

  • Contribute to RFP responses, proposal development, and interviews as part of public-sector pursuits
  • Support pursuit strategies and help position Kasian competitively in the public marketplace
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships within the community

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited program
  • Registered Architect in good standing with the AIBC
  • 10+ years of professional architectural experience
  • Demonstrated experience delivering public-sector projects (municipal, provincial, and/or federal)
  • Strong understanding of municipal processes, permitting, and authority approvals
  • Experience with civic, operations, institutional, community, or recreation facilities is considered an asset
  • Ability to independently manage projects with minimal oversight
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary consultant teams
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, construction detailing, and contract administration
  • Familiarity with collaborative delivery models (e.g., Progressive Design-Build, IPD) is an asset
  • High proficiency in Revit (required)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience contributing to proposals and public-sector submissions
  • Eligible to obtain required security clearances (e.g., PSPC, RCMP), if applicable

What We Offer

  • A collaborative, design-driven culture
  • Opportunity to lead meaningful public-sector projects
  • National exposure across diverse building types
  • Mentorship and professional growth opportunities
  • Hybrid workplace
  • Convenient downtown Vancouver office location
