Senior Estimator

Location: Athlone, Ireland
Salary: €80,000 - €100,000 + Package (DOE)

We are recruiting on behalf of a well‑established structural steel contractor seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join their commercial team in Athlone. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in securing and delivering a diverse portfolio of commercial, industrial, and infrastructure steel projects.

The successful candidate will lead the tendering process from initial enquiry through to final submission, ensuring competitive, accurate, and commercially sound bids for structural steel fabrication and erection packages.

As Senior Estimator, you will:

• Lead the preparation of detailed and accurate tenders for structural steelwork projects
  
• Interpret drawings, specifications, and employer's requirements to fully understand project scope
  
• Complete material take‑offs and assess fabrication, coating, transport, and erection costs
  
• Liaise with design, detailing, procurement, and operations teams to build robust and deliverable submissions
  
• Evaluate risk, identify value engineering opportunities, and develop commercial strategies
  
• Review subcontractor and supplier quotations to ensure best value
  
• Attend pre‑tender meetings and support post‑tender negotiations where required
  
• Mentor junior estimators and maintain structured, auditable tender documentation

• Proven experience as a Senior Estimator within the structural steel sector
  
• Strong technical understanding of steel fabrication, connection detailing, and site erection processes
  
• Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously, including large and complex projects
  
• Strong commercial acumen with a strategic approach to pricing and risk
  
• Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and organisational capability
  
• Confident communicator able to engage xcfaprz with internal teams, clients, and supply chain partners
