Position Summary: The Systems Administrator serves as the primary infrastructure implementer and operator for Midwest Rubber and our international operations. This role is responsible for translating architectural and platform decisions into reliable, well-documented production systems spanning networking, server administration, endpoint management, security operations, and cloud services across a multi-site environment currently transitioning between platforms. This role will leverage automation, AI, and emerging technologies to improve reliability, reduce manual effort, and deliver better employee experience. Essential Job Functions: Implement and maintain network infrastructure including firewalls, switches, VLANs, VPN, DNS, and DHCP across multiple sites Administer Windows Server and Active Directory environments including Group Policy, identity management, and access controls Manage and secure endpoints across a multi-site device fleet in a hybrid Windows and Google Workspace environment using modern MDM and endpoint management platforms Maintain security posture through patch management, endpoint protection, vulnerability remediation, and incident response Administer Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace services, supporting the companys ongoing platform evolution Evaluate and implement automation, scripting, and AI-assisted tools to streamline operations, reduce manual effort, and improve system reliability Provide remote infrastructure support for European and Asian operations, primarily during US business hours with occasional off-hours coordination Develop and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity systems Create and maintain technical documentation including runbooks, network diagrams, and asset inventory Assist with software asset management and license optimization to ensure compliance and cost efficiency Coordinate with external vendors including ISPs, hardware suppliers, and support partners Provide timely, high-quality end-user support that minimizes downtime and maximizes employee effectiveness Triage and provide first-level support for line-of-business applications including ERP and manufacturing systems Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to continuously improve the companys technological environment Crosstrain with other IT team members to ensure coverage continuity across the department All other duties as assigned Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Administration, or a related field 35+ years of experience in IT engineering, systems administration, or infrastructure support Demonstrated networking skills including TCP/IP, VLANs, subnetting, firewall configuration, VPN, and wireless networking Hands-on experience administering Windows Server and Active Directory Working knowledge of security frameworks and best practices (CIS benchmarks, NIST, or equivalent practical experience) Experience with endpoint management platforms such as Intune, SCCM, Jamf, or similar Ability to work effectively in a hybrid Microsoft and Google Workspace environment; Google Workspace experience is strongly valued as the companys targeted end-state platform Familiarity with scripting or automation tools (PowerShell, Python, or similar) to improve operational efficiency Strong documentation and communication skills Preferred Qualifications: Cloud platform experience (Azure or GCP) including identity, networking, or infrastructure services Experience with infrastructure-as-code or configuration management tools (Terraform, Ansible, or similar) Exposure to ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments, particularly with OT/IT network boundaries Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Network+, CCNA, Google Workspace Administrator, or Microsoft certifications Experience supporting international or multi-site operations Demonstrated interest in leveraging AI and automation to drive IT operational improvements
