- Lead the design and coordination of high-voltage (HV) electrical systems and substations (110kV and above) for large-scale data centre and industrial projects.
- Develop and review detailed electrical designs, including single-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, earthing, and interconnection layouts.
- Perform system studies and calculations such as load flow, short-circuit analysis, protection coordination, and arc‑flash studies.
- Prepare design documentation, technical specifications, and equipment schedules in accordance with project and regulatory requirements.
- Provide design input for HV substations, including transformer selection, switchgear, busbar systems, and protection relays.
- Coordinate with grid operators, utilities, and clients to define connection requirements and ensure full technical compliance with local grid codes.
- Support the development of primary and secondary substation designs, including control systems and SCADA integration.
- Collaborate with mechanical, civil, and low‑voltage design teams to ensure full MEP and structural integration.
- Evaluate supplier and manufacturer technical submissions, ensuring compliance with specifications and standards.
- Contribute to risk assessments, method statements, and constructability reviews during design and pre‑construction stages.
- Provide technical support during procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning phases.
- Mentor junior electrical engineers and contribute to the development of internal design standards and best practices.
- Drive continuous improvement in design quality, efficiency, and innovation within the electrical engineering function.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline.
- Minimum 8–10 years’ experience in electrical design engineering, with a strong focus on high‑voltage (110kV–400kV) substations and transmission infrastructure.
- Comprehensive knowledge of IEC, EN, and local grid codes, along with experience liaising with DNOs/TSOs.
- Strong understanding of primary and secondary substation systems, including switchgear, transformers, busbar arrangements, and control/protection systems.
- Proficiency in electrical design and analysis tools such as ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, or SKM Power Tools.
- Experience developing and reviewing SCADA, protection, and control schemes.
- Familiarity with Autodesk AutoCAD, Revit, or BIM‑based workflows for substation integration is an advantage.
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and coordination abilities, with experience working in multidisciplinary teams.
