Firmware Engineer

A Global semiconductor giant based in Cork are seeking to bolster their team with a talented Firmware Engineer to join the embedded team.

Please note this opportunity is based on-site in Cork and requires rights to work in Europe already in place before starting.

• Design, develop, and integrate SoC firmware features, diagnostics, and test capabilities.
• Collaborate with engineers across software, hardware, ASIC, architecture, emulation, and simulation teams to implement firmware features.
• Ensure attention to detail throughout all phases of firmware design, development, integration, testing, and release.
• Verify and debug firmware and drivers in collaboration with emulation and hardware design teams, resolving platform issues efficiently.
• Write secure, maintainable low-level firmware code and drive code reviews with relevant stakeholders to ensure high-quality deliverables.

• 7+ years of experience in embedded systems development with strong proficiency in C programming, device driver development, and low-level firmware.
• Hands‑on experience with ARM microprocessor architecture, ARM Assembly, system initialization, real‑time/embedded programming, and operating system loaders.
• Experience with bootloader frameworks such as UEFI/Tianocore EDK2, coreboot, uboot, TF-A, or Zephyr RTOS, including secure boot, authentication, and platform/device configurations.
• Knowledge of volatile and non‑volatile memory interfaces (DDRx, UFS, NVMe, eMMC, NAND, SPI‑NOR), peripheral interfaces (USB, PCIe), and performance‑tuned peripheral enablement.
• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem‑solving skills, including on‑target, emulation, and simulation platform bring‑up and collaboration across multiple teams. xcfaprz
