*Location: Melsonby, North Yorkshire | Full Time | UK & Occasional International Travel*
We are looking for a Technical Services Manager to join our small specialist team. Bridging the gap between customer requirements and technical delivery you will ensure solutions are practical, effective, and aligned with engineering standards and business objectives. You will lead projects from concept to completion, shaping processes and influencing service development across industrial systems in oil, gas, and petrochemicals.
You will work collaboratively with customers, engineers, and internal stakeholders to translate operational needs into clear technical solutions, overseeing projects from concept through to completion. You will also contribute to internal and external training programmes, promoting best practice and supporting knowledge sharing across the organisation.
This is a newly created position and offers the opportunity to shape processes, influence service development, and make a visible impact within a small team.

To be successful in this role, you will combine technical expertise with a structured, practical approach to delivery. You will be confident taking ownership of projects, engaging with both technical teams and customers, and contributing to the continuous development of capability across the organisation. You will demonstrate strong communication skills, commercial awareness, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and customer service.
UK and occasional international travel will be required, including overnight stays.
*What You Will Do*
*Technical Leadership & Solution Design*
* Translate customer requirements into technical specifications and solution proposals
* Develop accurate implementation plans
* Lead project reviews, identify risks, and ensure quality throughout the lifecycle
* Ensure alignment with ISO 9001 and SHEF principles
*Project & Operational Delivery*
* Coordinate small to medium-sized multi-disciplinary projects
* Support planning and scheduling of field service activity
* Monitor progress, budgets, and milestones to ensure on-time delivery
* Contribute to quotations, documentation, and process improvements
*Customer Partnership*
* Act as a trusted technical advisor to our customers
* Present tailored solutions and proposals with clarity and confidence
* Communicate complex technical concepts to a range of audiences
* Build strong, long-term relationships focused on practical and sustainable solutions
*Capability & Continuous Improvement*
* Design and deliver internal and external training programmes
* Strengthen departmental processes, planning, and resource capability
* Contribute to company strategy and service development

*Essential Qualifications & Experience*
* Relevant degree in engineering or science discipline, or equivalent practical experience
* Proven experience delivering technical or engineering projects through to completion
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured, methodical approach
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical report writing
* Ability to work collaboratively with engineers, customers, and internal stakeholders
* Commercial awareness and confidence presenting technical solutions
*Desirable*
* Knowledge or experience of instrumentation, calibration, or industrial systems
* Health and Safety qualification such as IOSH, or willingness to obtain within 6–12 months
* Experience working in industrial, engineering, or technical services environments
* Experience delivering technical training or knowledge-sharing programmes
