The market-leading Technology and Innovation group in Matheson LLP ("Matheson") is seeking to build on its ongoing growth and success. The group, which is the longest established technology practice in Ireland, is acknowledged to be at the cutting edge of technology related legal developments. The group advises on all aspects of technology related legal advice, providing strategic, practical and commercially focused advice to international and domestic clients across multiple sectors. The work includes advising on digital services and content regulation, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, data protection and privacy matters, intellectual property and strategic and business critical contracts, both transactional and advisory. The group has grown substantially over the last several years and is recruiting ambitious senior associates who are keen to develop their expertise and help manage further continuing growth.

The role
This is a senior role within the Technology and Innovation group, where you will:
- Lead on challenging and innovative technology law projects for a variety of clients;
- Work collaboratively as part of multi-disciplinary specialist teams (including Matheson’s Digital Economy Group) on high value and business critical client projects;
- Manage junior and associate solicitors on client advisory matters across the full range of technology, digital services and privacy issues;
- Participate in a variety of business development opportunities including foreign client relationship visits and representing Matheson at international conferences as well as the possibility of secondment to our London and Californian offices;
- Help drive thought leadership in technology law through the Matheson client knowledge programme; and
Advise on the legal issues across:
- Large scale technology and commercial contract drafting and negotiations;
- Data protection, data privacy and data governance;
- Cyber security and operational resilience;
- The digital single market including DMA and DSA compliance, content regulation for online platforms and intermediary industries, e-commerce and online business practices for gatekeepers, platforms and businesses;
- Transactional and advisory intellectual property projects.
The person
- You are an experienced Technology Lawyer with a strong track record both technically and in business development.
- You are highly client focused and committed to consistently exceeding client expectations.
- You have a strong academic track record and broad technical expertise.
- You can manage a diverse workload, deliver quality, commercially-focused advice with minimal supervision, and lead and develop junior lawyers.
- You enjoy the law you practice, and are hardworking and resilient. You will thrive in a diverse and inclusive environment where you will work in partnership with top legal talent in a market leading team that is continuing to grow.
- You will enjoy establishing relationships with a diverse range of clients and colleagues.
- You are enthusiastic about business development, helping develop your junior colleagues to their maximum potential and how you can contribute to managing valuable client relationships as part of the team.
