Overview
We are seeking an experienced Finance & Payroll Controller to take full ownership of the finance function across multiple trading companies. This is a hands‑on role in a growing technology‑led SME. The successful candidate will manage day‑to‑day accounts, payroll, compliance, and reporting — while bringing structure, accuracy, and financial clarity to the group. You will not be “just processing invoices.” You will be responsible for financial control, reporting integrity, and ensuring the business operates on clean, reliable numbers.
What you’ll do
Key Responsibilities: Financial Management
- Full responsibility for day-to-day accounts across multiple companies
- Preparation of monthly management accounts
- Cash flow forecasting and monitoring
- Bank reconciliations and control accounts
- Intercompany reconciliations
- Debtors & creditors management
- VAT returns (ROI)
- RCT where applicable
- Preparation of year-end files for external accountants
- Sage (prep to move to new ERP system)
- Thesaurus (Payroll)
- Import / Export Filings
Payroll
- Full payroll processing (weekly/monthly)
- PAYE, PRSI, USC compliance
- Pension administration
- Revenue submissions via ROS
- Payroll reporting and reconciliation
Compliance & Controls
- Ensure full Revenue compliance
- Maintain strong internal financial controls
- Maintain accurate audit trail and documentation
- Liaise with external accountants and advisors
- Support grant claims and financial reporting where required
Systems
- Work with Sage 50 Professional (or similar) (we are moving to new ERP within months)
- Improve financial processes and reporting systems
- Support transition to improved cloud-based solutions where appropriate
Your Skills
- Has 5+ years’ experience in a similar SME finance role
- Has strong payroll experience
- Is highly organised and detail-driven
- Understands multi-company structures
- Is confident xcfaprz dealing directly with customers while chasing debt
- Takes ownership and responsibility
- Is commercially aware — not just compliance-focused
- Is comfortable working in a fast-moving, growth environment
Professional accounting qualification desirable but not essential (experience matters more).
