We are hiring a dedicated Material Handler for our bustling facility in Des Moines, Iowa. This role is essential for the smooth flow of materials throughout our warehouse, ensuring that products are moved efficiently and safely from receiving to storage and then to outbound shipping. You will be a key player in maintaining inventory accuracy and supporting our overall Logistics operations. The ideal candidate is physically fit, detail-oriented, and committed to upholding high standards of workplace Safety .
Responsibilities:
- Transport raw materials, finished goods, and other materials throughout the warehouse using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other designated equipment.
- Load and unload materials from trucks and containers.
- Accurately identify and move materials to designated storage areas, ensuring proper placement and organization.
- Assist with inventory management, including cycle counts and stock rotation.
- Operate material handling equipment safely and efficiently, adhering to all operating procedures and manufacturer guidelines.
- Perform routine checks on equipment to ensure it is in good working order.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area, practicing good housekeeping habits.
- Wear appropriate PPE at all times, including safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed boots.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries, contributing to a safe work environment.
- Support other warehouse operations as needed, such as picking, packing, or staging orders.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Proven experience operating forklifts and other material handling equipment is essential.
- Ability to perform manual tasks, including frequent Lifting of up to 50 lbs, and prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Excellent spatial awareness and attention to detail.
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety regulations.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliability and a strong sense of responsibility.
- A commitment to teamwork and a positive attitude.
