We are seeking a dedicated Inventory Control Specialist to join our team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This pivotal role ensures the accuracy and integrity of our warehouse inventory, playing a crucial part in our overall logistics and operational efficiency. You will be responsible for implementing robust inventory control measures, conducting thorough cycle counts, investigating discrepancies, and optimizing stock management processes. The ideal candidate possesses a strong analytical mindset, exceptional attention to detail, and a deep understanding of warehouse operations. Your contributions will directly impact our ability to meet customer demands and maintain efficient supply chain operations.
Responsibilities:
- Perform regular cycle counts and physical inventories to verify stock accuracy.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies by identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Maintain precise inventory records within the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Develop, refine, and enforce inventory control policies and procedures.
- Monitor inventory levels, track stock rotation (FIFO/LIFO), and identify obsolete or slow-moving stock.
- Ensure optimal storage conditions and proper handling of all inventory items.
- Collaborate closely with warehouse supervisors, receiving, and shipping teams to ensure seamless inventory flow.
- Analyze inventory data to provide reports on stock accuracy, turns, and potential issues.
- Train new team members on inventory control best practices and procedures.
- Champion safety initiatives and ensure compliance with all safety regulations, including the correct use of PPE.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is a plus.
- Proven experience in inventory control, warehousing, or a similar logistics role.
- Proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and inventory control software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent organizational and time management capabilities.
- Understanding of inventory management principles and supply chain logistics.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting up to 25 pounds for inventory checks.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
