We are seeking a reliable and energetic Material Handler to join our growing logistics team in Huntsville, Alabama. In this essential role, you will be responsible for the physical movement and organization of materials within our warehouse. Your tasks will include loading, unloading, transporting, and storing a variety of goods, ensuring that inventory is managed efficiently and accurately. This position requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety in all aspects of your work. Responsibilities:
- Load and unload materials from trucks, containers, and other transport vehicles.
- Transport materials to and from designated areas within the warehouse using manual methods or equipment like pallet jacks.
- Stack, sort, and store materials in appropriate locations, ensuring proper organization and accessibility.
- Assist with inventory counts, cycle counts, and maintaining accurate inventory records.
- Operate material handling equipment safely, as required and trained (e.g., pallet jacks, hand trucks).
- Inspect materials for damage or defects upon arrival and report any issues.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe work environment, adhering to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure the correct use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow and meet operational targets.
- Support other warehouse functions as needed, contributing to the overall efficiency of the logistics operations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience as a material handler, in a warehouse, or in a related logistics role is a plus.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, carrying, and moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Strong stamina and the ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Understanding of warehouse safety practices and the importance of proper lifting techniques.
- Commitment to wearing required PPE, such as safety vests and gloves.
- Reliability and punctuality with a strong work ethic.
- Basic knowledge of inventory management is beneficial.
