We are looking for a dedicated Receiving Clerk to join our team in Madison, Wisconsin. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for incoming inventory, ensuring all deliveries are processed accurately and efficiently. Your meticulous attention to detail will be crucial in maintaining the integrity of our stock and supporting the overall logistics operations. This position requires someone organized, reliable, and committed to upholding safety standards within the warehouse. You will be responsible for verifying shipments, managing documentation, and preparing goods for storage.
Responsibilities:
- Receive, unload, and inspect all incoming shipments.
- Verify shipment contents against purchase orders, invoices, and packing lists for accuracy.
- Identify and document any damages, shortages, or discrepancies found during receiving.
- Record received goods into the inventory management system promptly and accurately.
- Label and tag all received items according to company procedures for easy identification and tracking.
- Organize and stage received materials for efficient put-away into storage locations.
- Communicate effectively with carriers, vendors, and internal warehouse teams regarding shipment status and issues.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe receiving area, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations.
- Properly use and care for any assigned equipment, such as pallet jacks and forklifts (if certified).
- Ensure the consistent use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to guarantee a safe working environment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Previous experience in a receiving, shipping, or warehouse role is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with basic computer operations and data entry is necessary.
- Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of safety best practices in a logistics environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Familiarity with inventory control procedures.
- Commitment to wearing and maintaining PPE.
