Job Description
The Process / QA Engineer is responsible for evaluating, developing, and improving printed circuit assembly (PCA/PCBA) manufacturing and quality processes to reduce cost, increase efficiency, improve utilization, and establish best practices across production. This role ensures that products and services provided by Elemaster consistently meet internal quality standards, customer requirements, and applicable industry standards.
The Process / QA Engineer works cross-functionally with Management, Quality, Purchasing, Inventory Control, Engineering, and Manufacturing to ensure robust process control, effective problem resolution, and continuous improvement throughout the product lifecycle.
Qualifications Required
* 5 to 10 years of engineering experience in PCA / PCBA or electronics manufacturing * Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) * Comprehensive knowledge of the Quality Management System (QMS) * Working knowledge of IPC standards (IPC-A-610, IPC-J-STD-001 preferred) * Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies . * Familiarity with ERP/MES systems used in manufacturing environments. * Essential Functions and Responsibilities Quality & Compliance
* Maintain, develop, and continuously improve Quality Control (QC) procedures, work instructions, and inspection plans . * Ensure incoming, in-process, and outgoing materials conform to specifications and customer requirements. * Support and lead FAI (First Article Inspection) , PPAP (when applicable), and product qualification activities. * Ensure compliance with customer-specific requirements , IPC standards, and internal QMS procedures. * Support internal, customer, and third-party audits , including preparation, corrective actions, and follow-up. * Monitor and analyze quality metrics (yield, defects, scrap, rework, COPQ) and drive improvement actions.
Process Engineering & Continuous Improvement
* Evaluate, optimize, and standardize PCA manufacturing processes, including SMT, THT, assembly, test, and integration. * Improve process capability (Cp, Cpk) , throughput, and production volume while maintaining or improving quality. * Develop and implement process controls , poka-yoke solutions, and best practices. * Identify root causes of process deviations and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) . * Support NPI (New Product Introduction) by reviewing manufacturability, testability, and quality risks. * Coordinate activities related to special processes in accordance with IRIS standard 6.1.1 (where applicable).
Equipment, Testing & Validation
* Support maintenance, calibration, and validation of assembly, inspection, and test equipment (AOI, ICT, functional test, etc.). * Collaborate with equipment suppliers and internal teams to improve equipment reliability, uptime, and changeover efficiency . * Assist in defining test strategies , test coverage, and acceptance criteria. * Research, evaluate, and support acquisition of new manufacturing and inspection technologies .
Data, Reporting & Documentation
* Collect, analyze, and document process and quality data . * Prepare and present clear reports, dashboards, and trend analyses to management and stakeholders. * Ensure accurate documentation of process changes, deviations, and approvals in accordance with QMS requirements. * Maintain control of engineering documentation, including process flows, PFMEA, control plans, and work instructions .
Cross-Functional Collaboration
* Work closely with Purchasing and Inventory Control to address supplier quality issues and material risks. * Support supplier quality activities, including SCARs, supplier audits, and performance reviews . * Partner with Manufacturing and Production Supervisors to resolve daily quality and process issues. * Ensure projects and improvement initiatives are completed on time and within scope .
