We are expanding our logistics operations in Cincinnati, Ohio, and seeking a diligent Shipping Clerk to join our team. In this vital role, you will oversee the accurate and timely preparation of all outgoing shipments. Your responsibilities will include verifying order details, selecting appropriate packaging materials, accurately labeling shipments, preparing shipping documentation, and coordinating with carriers for pickup. This position requires a meticulous approach, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to ensuring that every order leaves our facility correctly and efficiently. A solid understanding of shipping procedures and a dedication to safety are paramount. You will be a key player in our logistics chain, ensuring customer satisfaction through reliable outbound operations. We value individuals who are proactive, detail-oriented, and work well under pressure. Your role is essential to maintaining the integrity of our shipping process.
Responsibilities:
- Verify accuracy of orders against shipping manifests and customer orders.
- Select appropriate packaging materials and ensure shipments are securely packed.
- Print and affix shipping labels and any required documentation accurately.
- Prepare Bills of Lading and other shipping-related paperwork.
- Schedule and coordinate pickups with various shipping carriers (e.g., FedEx, UPS, USPS, LTL freight).
- Maintain a clean and organized shipping area, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Track shipments and provide updates as needed.
- Communicate with internal departments and external carriers regarding shipping status and issues.
- Operate shipping dock equipment safely, such as pallet jacks.
- Ensure compliance with all shipping regulations and company policies.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a shipping, logistics, or warehouse role is preferred.
- Proficiency with shipping software and carrier portals is a plus.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and labeling.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Understanding of logistics principles and shipping procedures.
- Commitment to workplace safety and the correct use of PPE.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
