Join our team as an Order Picker in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where you'll be responsible for accurately and efficiently gathering items to fulfill customer orders. This role is fundamental to our logistics operations, ensuring timely dispatch and customer satisfaction. We are looking for individuals with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety. You will be working in a dynamic warehouse environment, utilizing various tools and equipment to locate and prepare products for shipment. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys a hands-on role and contributing to the seamless operation of a busy distribution center.
Responsibilities:
- Receive picking lists or work orders detailing items and quantities required for orders.
- Locate and retrieve specified items from warehouse shelves and storage areas using pick lists, scanners, or other designated technology.
- Accurately count items to ensure correct quantities are picked.
- Pack selected items securely and efficiently into appropriate containers for shipment.
- Verify that picked items match order details to minimize errors.
- Operate material handling equipment, such as pallet jacks and order pickers (training provided), in a safe and efficient manner.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring aisles and walkways are clear.
- Assist with inventory management tasks, including cycle counts and stock put-away as needed.
- Report any discrepancies, damages, or equipment issues to a supervisor promptly.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience as an order picker or in a warehouse/logistics environment is a strong advantage.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform tasks involving bending, stooping, and reaching.
- Capability of lifting and maneuvering packages weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in order fulfillment.
- Basic reading and math skills required.
- Familiarity with RF scanners or warehouse management systems is a plus.
- Commitment to safety and knowledge of proper lifting techniques.
- Must be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Must wear required PPE consistently.
