Senior Systems Administrator – South Burlington, VT:
Vermont Federal Credit Union is recruiting for a Senior Systems Administrator out of our South Burlington Operations Center.
Annual Range: $86,136.96 – $129,205.44
Job Description:
Own and administer critical on-premises infrastructure, ensuring availability, performance, and resilience. Maintain alignment between production, backup, and disaster recovery environments. Serve as senior escalation point for complex system, server, and platform issues. Operate with a high degree of autonomy, independently managing systems, troubleshooting issues, and implementing improvements. Effectively prioritize work based on operational risk, member impact, regulatory requirements, and business priorities. Maintain thorough documentation and operational standards with minimal supervision. Lead infrastructure and systems projects from planning through execution, demonstrating strong project management and organizational skills. Apply big-picture, forward-looking thinking to project planning, considering scalability, security, compliance, and long-term operational impact. Coordinate timelines, dependencies, vendors, and internal stakeholders to deliver projects successfully. Design, install, and administer physical and virtual infrastructure supporting LANs, WANs, and hybrid cloud platforms. Support modernization initiatives while maintaining operational stability. Evaluate new technologies and recommend solutions appropriate for a mid-size financial institution. Implement and maintain system and network security controls aligned with FFIEC guidance, NCUA expectations, and industry best practices. Proactively identify risks and recommend mitigation strategies. Support audits, exams, and documentation requirements related to infrastructure and security controls. Demonstrate humility, professionalism, and accountability in all interactions. Share knowledge, mentor peers, and contribute to a collaborative IT culture. Commit to continuous learning and skill development as technologies evolve. Requirements:
Three years to five years of similar or related experience. A bachelor’s degree, or achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree. Strong interpersonal skills, confidentiality, and discretion requiring diplomacy and tact in communication are essential elements. Proactive, strategic thinking. Highly independent and strong ownership mentality. Excellent prioritization and time management skills. Humble, respectful, and service oriented. Confident project leadership with strong organization skills.
