Position Overview:
Reporting to the AVP, Data Warehouse Manager,
Data Engineer
is critical to the ongoing support of Data Warehousing projects for Ascot US. This position will be responsible for the analysis, development, implementation, testing, and ongoing support of data warehouse projects, including Phinsys and the Data & Integration Hub. This role will be in the office with a hybrid work schedule.
Responsibilities:
Serve as a Data Engineer Level 1 for projects, enhancements, and production support. Be responsible for all analysis and support of assigned projects to include hands-on development. Assist in establishing work estimates based on business requirements through participation in project feasibility, scoping, and estimating activities. Assist in the high/low level designs and technical specifications that can be accurately executed. Validate accuracy/quality of data integrations generated from ETL specifications. Ensure data model specifications are met. Assist with hands-on design, development and testing for the most complex data related work. Coordinate/lead production implementations to ensure smooth, quality releases. Participate in the delivery of new warehouse sources/tables/mart etc. while leveraging existing company standards. Coordinate Ascot and Vendor resources to ensure high quality and timely deliverables. Think independently and creatively to streamline work and root out inefficiencies. Find opportunities to increase speed and quality of output. Must be able to articulate ideas and turn those ideas into new capabilities, performance improvements, and quality improvements. Anticipate and report technical and organizational roadblocks. Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in information systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 2+ years of experience as a Data Analyst/Engineer for a large Data Warehouse working with large data sets. Some ETL Tool experience; SSIS, Informatica, ADF Some experience in the Commercial and/or Specialty insurance industry is desired. An understanding of financial data and concepts. Analytical, rigorous, with attention to detail. Proven SQL skills Proven experience using SQL to identify and correct data issues. Some Database knowledge, preferably SQL Server, Synapse Capable scripting/SQL skills to perform ETL, data/file validation, analysis, and profiling. Minimal ability to create, read, understand, and interpret Data Models Code maintenance and review experience in one or more general purpose languages. Compensation:
Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to experience, subject matter expertise, and skills. The base pay is just one component of Ascot's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include an annual cash bonus and other forms of discretionary compensation awarded by the Company.
The annualized base pay range for this role is: $95,000 - $110,000
