Position Overview Contract Professionals, Inc. is seeking a technical Product Owner (SAFe) to support embedded software development programs within a defense engineering environment. This role drives backlog ownership, product prioritization, and Agile execution for mission-critical embedded systems supporting RF, GPS, and navigation technologies.
Key Responsibilities • Define and prioritize product requirements in collaboration with engineering and program stakeholders • Own and manage the product backlog aligned with business and technical objectives • Lead participation in SAFe ceremonies including PI Planning, backlog refinement, and sprint reviews • Translate technical concepts into actionable user stories and acceptance criteria • Partner with embedded software teams to ensure execution alignment • Monitor sprint progress and adjust priorities to meet delivery milestones • Continuously incorporate stakeholder feedback to improve product outcomes
Required Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related STEM field • 5+ years of relevant experience OR Master's degree plus 3+ years • 2-3 years of experience in a Product Owner role within a technical environment • Strong understanding of SAFe principles and Agile frameworks • Proficiency in C, C++, and C# • Familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS) • Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance • U.S. Citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications • Experience supporting embedded systems or embedded software development programs • Knowledge of RF, GPS, or navigation system integration • SAFe certification or formal SAFe training • Strong software development lifecycle knowledge • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
Work Environment Onsite role located in Fort Wayne, IN.
