PeaceHealth St Joseph is now accepting applications for the Nurse Residency Program at PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center ( in Bellingham, Washington. This .9 fte night shift position is an exceptional opportunity for new graduate nurses to join a program designed to foster technical expertise, compassionate care and professional growth.
Our 12-month transition-to-practice program offers interactive, evidence-based curriculum that builds clinical skills, leadership and confidence in the professional nurse role. The program reflects the Mission, Vision and Values of PeaceHealth ( of PeaceHealth ensuring excellence in patient outcomes and community care.
**Available Units:**
+ Med/Surg, Emergency Department, ICU, ICU step down and Float Pool.

**What you bring:**
+ Recent RN graduate (within 12 month) or a RN licensed less than 12 months with > 6 months of Acute Care experience
+ Active Washington RN license by date of hire
+ American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers certification by date of hire.
+ Able to participate in all program activities throughout the 12-month residency period
+ Ability to work a minimum of 36 hours/week, variable shifts and shift lengths and rotate per union standards
+ Commitment to a 12-month program and willingness to sign a 2-year agreement
**Additional details:**
+ Start dates are determined by several factors including: NCLEX, licensing, relocation and department needs.
+ New grads must remain in the department they are hired into for the first 18 months of employment per the WSNA Union contract.
+ Position is union-represented, multiple openings available

The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $44.34 - $80.37. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.
**Job Summary**
Provides professional nursing direct patient care in compliance with professional practice and unit standards. Promotes a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach towards patients, families and all members of the care delivery team.
**Essential Functions**
+ Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care needs.
+ Documents patient care in the healthcare record according to established standards.
+ Directs and delegates care to other team members in accordance with their education, credentials, and demonstrated competence.
+ Ensures own professional effectiveness through education and professional development.
+ Participates in the development of and maintains established hospital policies, procedures and objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection prevention program.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**
**Education**
+ Accredited School of Nursing Required
+ Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
**Credentials**
+ Registered Nurse
+ Upon Hire Basic Life Support
**Skills**
+ Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient's needs.
+ Demonstrated ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships and patient/family centered work environment.
+ Able to support and interpret medical center philosophy, policy and procedures.
+ Basic computer skills.
**Working Conditions**
+ Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
+ Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
+ Push/Pull: Frequently up to 45 lbs. force (i.e., WOW, medical carts).
+ Perform hands on CPR at least 20 mins using 100-125 lbs. of force (National Assoc. of EMS Physicians and AHA) Frequency should be seldom or occasionally.
+ Ability to move around area with frequent sitting.
+ Bending/ stooping/ squatting/ reaching/ kneeling frequently.
+ Lifting (non-patient) up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently.
+ Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
+ Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy environment.
+ Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
+ Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
