Main Duties:

The Security Manager at 1 Hotels will be responsible for overseeing the daily security and loss prevention operations, ensuring the safety of guests, team members, and property through effective asset protection, fire and accident prevention, and emergency response. This role ensures full regulatory and SOP compliance while continuously enhancing guest and team member satisfaction and optimizing departmental performance.


General Duties:

  • Lead all security and loss prevention operations to protect guests, employees, and hotel assets in compliance with the Ontario Fire Code, Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA), and applicable municipal regulations.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain emergency response procedures, including fire safety plans, evacuation protocols, and incident management.
  • Conduct investigations into theft, loss, accidents, and security incidents; prepare reports and recommend corrective actions.
  • Oversee patrols of the hotel, back-of-house areas, and parking facilities; identify hazards and implement risk mitigation plans.
  • Ensure timely medical response and proper documentation for all guest and team member incidents.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the Security team, fostering professionalism, discretion, and service excellence.
  • Communicate safety procedures, codes, and compliance requirements, ensuring consistent adherence to policies and legislation.
  • Set performance standards, conduct evaluations, and recognize team achievements.
  • Promote trust, collaboration, and open communication through hands-on leadership and an open-door approach.
  • Balance strong security presence with a discreet, luxury-focused approach to guest service.
  • Ensure guest safety and satisfaction are embedded in daily operations and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Handle escalated guest issues and sensitive situations with empathy, confidentiality, and sound judgment.
  • Collaborate with other departments to enhance the overall guest experience and address any operational issues.
  • Ensure all incidents, accidents, and liability claims are documented and reported in accordance with corporate standards and Ontario regulations.
  • Support People Operations with team member relations matters, investigations, and disciplinary processes.
  • Ensure Security team maintain required First Aid and CPR certifications and complete mandatory training.
  • Assist in minimizing workplace injury claims and risk exposure through proactive safety and compliance management.
  • Administer policies fairly, consistently, and in alignment with SOPs and local operating procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
  • Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional.

Qualifications & Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • A high school degree or GED; 4 years of experience in a comparable position and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Post-secondary education in Security Management, Criminal Justice, Hospitality Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of Ontario Fire Code, Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA), and emergency preparedness requirements.
  • First Aid and CPR certification required; additional emergency management or fire safety training preferred.
  • Valid Ontario Security Guard Licence; supervisory or management-level security credentials considered an asset.
  • Proven leadership, investigation, and conflict-resolution skills with a strong focus on guest service, discretion, and professionalism.
  • Experience in loss prevention and security management.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy items as needed.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
