Company Description

Legacy DesignTech Inc. is a Calgary-based turnkey design-build contractor specializing in shallow utility design and construction solutions for the telecommunications and power sectors. Since 2020, we have supported clients across Western Canada with dependable, technically sound project delivery from concept through construction.

The Opportunity

Legacy DesignTech is seeking a Senior Project Manager to oversee a portfolio of telecommunications and power utility projects. This is a leadership role responsible for full cycle project execution, with particular emphasis on contract management, scope control, and deliverable performance .

The ideal candidate brings 7–10 years of senior-level project management experience in utility, civil, telecom, or power distribution environments and is confident managing client contracts, commercial terms, schedules, and compliance-driven deliverables.

This role reports directly to the Operations Manager and will play a key role in ensuring contractual obligations are met, risks are managed proactively, and projects are delivered to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, execution, and delivery of telecom and power utility projects.
  • Own and manage client contracts, scopes of work, and commercial terms.
  • Ensure all contractual deliverables are submitted accurately, on time, and in compliance with client requirements.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk.
  • Review contracts for risk exposure, change order triggers, and scope gaps.
  • Lead change management processes and negotiate scope adjustments where required.
  • Coordinate internal design teams, field teams, subcontractors, and consultants.
  • Provide clear reporting to leadership on project financial performance and risk.
  • Maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and accountability.
  • Drive continuous improvement in project controls and documentation standards.

Technical Environment & Keywords

Experience in the following areas is strongly preferred:

  • EPC project delivery
  • Telecommunications infrastructure projects
  • Power distribution and shallow utility construction
  • Underground civil construction
  • Contract administration and change order management
  • Scope development and deliverables tracking
  • Construction schedules
  • Utility permitting and regulatory compliance

What Success Looks Like in This Role

  • Contracts are clearly understood, managed, and executed without scope creep.
  • Deliverables are consistently submitted on time and meet client standards.
  • Projects are delivered within budget targets.
  • Change orders are identified early and properly documented.
  • Risks are addressed proactively rather than reactively.
  • Clients view Legacy as organized, dependable, and commercially strong.

Qualifications

  • 7–10 years of senior-level project management experience within the power or utility sector. Experience supporting electrical utility infrastructure, distribution, or transmission projects is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrates experience managing client contracts and commercial terms.
  • Strong understanding of scope control, deliverables management, and financial oversight.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related discipline.
  • PMP certification is considered an asset.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work in Calgary, AB.

Who This Role Is Not For

This role is not suited for entry-level project managers or candidates who prefer purely technical coordination roles.

We are seeking a execution focused leader who understands contracts, takes ownership of deliverables, and is comfortable having firm conversations about scope, schedule, and accountability.

Our Culture

  • Ownership mentality
  • Clear communication
  • Direct problem-solving
  • Strong internal coordination
