Resident Engineer

Job Description

MAITRA ASSOCIATES, P.C ., a multi-discipline engineering/CM firm celebrating over 40 years of practice, has immediate openings for Resident Engineers to join our Team for major bridge/highway projects commencing in March 2026. Projects will involve inspection of roadway lighting and power distribution, underdeck lighting, and building electrical upgrades and installation of multiple-phase power distribution systems with LED luminaires.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise inspection personnel and subconsultants.
• Interface with Client, project inspectors, contractors, and design consultants,
• Maintain high standards of workmanship conforming to contract plans and specifications,
• Negotiate with contractors

Requirements

• P.E. License
• Minimum 10 years' experience in Resident Engineering overseeing bridge/highway construction projects of $10 million or more.
• Good computer and writing skills.
• Ability to take charge and manage a field staff of 5 or more inspectors.
• Strong leadership qualities
• Strong negotiation skills
• Deadline and detail-oriented

What You'll Need:

• The ability to learn quickly, strong communication skills, and a solid work ethic
• A passion for design and creative problem-solving
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field
• Engineer-in-Training Certification is a plus
• Exposure to site/civil design
• Familiarity with the New Jersey Stormwater Best Management Practices Manual (BMP manual)
• Familiarity with civil engineering software (AutoCAD, Civil3D )
