*DESCRIPTION:*
An employee in this class does semi-skilled and routine manual work in performing a variety of tasks connected with installation, maintenance and repair of the mechanical systems and equipment in a Type 4A sewage treatment facility. Employees usually work under the immediate supervision of a higher-ranking department employee. Occasionally on less complex jobs, the incumbent may work independently and, in some cases, oversee the work of laborers or subordinate staff. Does related work as required.
*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:*
Graduation from high school, possession of a high school equivalency diploma, or a high school individual education plan diploma AND EITHER:
*A)* One (1) year of experience in the maintenance of mechanical equipment; OR,
*B) *Completion of Albany County Water Purification District Apprenticeship Program for the title.
*SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:*
Eligibility for and possession of a valid New York State driver’s license at time of appointment and continuously thereafter.
